Interview!
What made you want to become a Dancehall/Reggae DJ?
It was actually DJ Screw from Houston Texas who got me into DJing. He created the wonderful movement called ‘Screwed and Chopped’ which I am a huge fan of and it inspired me to start my own movement that I have been developing since 2004 (dub k recordings!™). As of 2005 I started understanding myself by taking regular trips to Jamaica and became more fascinated with the dancehall craze and it secured the idea of becoming a specialist Jamaican DJ!
What is your first piece of DJ equipment you used and what do you use now?
I first got a KAM package on my 14th birthday, which was vinyl. Now I’m using Pioneer CDJ 350’s with a DJM 350 mixer!
Why have you decided to approach the industry from a mix CD direction?
I got the idea from an interview of DJ Smallz I read and became interested in ways people can enter the music scene. Most DJs want to get the fame first by playing in many clubs hoping to get noticed but I wanted to stay invisible and let fans appreciate the mix instead of the artist!

Who are the most famous Jamaican artists you have met?
I have met and gained contact with many artists like Khago, Shugo Banton, Ricky Ticky, Spragga Benz, Tanto Metro, Devonte, Ninja Man, RDX & T.O.K. but I have a strong contact with Christopher Martin, big shout out to DJ Boozy & DJ Flava in St. Catherine for that!
What are your all time favourite riddims?
Diwali Riddim

Mad Indian Riddim

What music outside Dancehall & Reggae do you listen to?
I am a huge fan of UK music, I support Grime and Ol’ Skool Garage fully but my other interests are R&B, Soul and Rock!
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Hopefully I should be well established as a Dancehall/Reggae DJ. I want to bring many more opportunities for the Jamaican music industry to be known and accepted worldwide.
