Artist Spotlight – Shawn Storm!

Shawn Campbell aka Shawn Storm who hails from the community of Waterford in Portmore, says he discovered his interest in music during his high school years.
In 2000, he sought to take up the challenge of doing serious music when he, along with X-Facta, Don Ford, Steppin Apachie, all deejays from the Portmore community, came together and formed a group called The RATTIS Crew.
In 2001 Shawn Storm entered the Portmore Talent Star Search where we finished 3rd out of about 300 participants and recalled that, “the prize for the first four contestants was a chance to perform at ‘Sting 2001′, but because of circumstances beyond our control it did not materialise.”
This disappointment did not deter him, however, as that same year, he entered a call-in radio programme hosted by Jerry D under the name ‘Shawn Peng’. He won three consecutive weeks and on the last week, Ward 21 were guest artistes on the programme and that’s where they gave him the name ‘Shawn Storm’.
From then, Storm has been seeking to get his name out there and build his popularity. Success was not immediate, but now he sees where his hard work and perseverance has paid off.
